Q. What browsers should I use? A. We recommend that you use the latest browsers possible. If there is an update available, update it. If there was a new version release, upgrade. Personally, we recommend:
Internet Explorer 6.0+
Safari 1.2+
Mozilla Firefox 1.0+ Q. I'm using Internet Explorer on a Mac and having trouble, why? A. Internet Explorer for Mac is no longer being supported OR developed by Microsoft or Apple. It is an old browser that will never be updated or upgraded. This also leaves Mac Internet Explorer users open to many security risks from all over the internet. If you are on OS X, then we HIGHLY recommend using Safari or Firefox. Safari comes with OS X, so check your Applications folder.
If you are on OS 9, then we HIGHLY recommend upgrading your operating system. BUT, if you can not upgrade your operating system, please make sure you are using the latest version of Internet Explorer [Download Here]. OR, you can try downloading Mozilla [Download Here]. Q. I'm using Internet Explorer on a Mac and my downloads come as a ".asp" file. A. After selecting your resolution and clicking on the "download" button, your "File Save As..." dialog box might display as if you are saving "download.asp", but don't worry, that is ok. You can still choose your location, and click "Save". Make sure to NOT rename the file. The file you selected will still download onto your desktop just as normal. Q. I'm using Internet Explorer on a mac and my .JPG downloads open in a new window. A. If you click "download" after selecting a JPEG file format, your download may open in a new window. Just click on the JPEG image and drag it to your desktop (or wherever you want), or go to "File>Save As" (without changing the name), and wait for the download to start and finish. Q. It says I'm logged in at another location, why? A. It is most likely that you forgot to log out of your browser at another location. If that browser is still open on a machine at another location, it will see your account as being logged in. Another possibility is that somebody is using your account. In any case, you will be able to log out of the other location when you attempt to log-in to your account. Q. How do multiple subscriptions work? A. Multiple subscriptions work by limiting the number of accounts logged-in at a single time. If you bought a 5-user multiple subscription, 5 users would be allowed to log-in at one time. The 6th user to attempt to log-in, would not be allowed to log-in. Q. How long does my subscription last? A. With most subscriptions, your subscription lasts 1-year from when you activate your account. There are a few special cases where there are exceptions. Q. I logged in, but it says my account is inactive? A. You have most likely not activated your account. If you have recently signed-up, you need to click on the link in your response eMail that activates your account. Another case in which this might happen, is if your subscription has expired. That is, unless it was disabled for administrative reasons. You can contact us at any time if you have problems. Q. How do I change my eMail address for my account? A. Currently there is no way for YOU to change your eMail, or any other contact information. This is mainly for security reasons. You can contact us at any time to have changes done. Q. Can I upgrade/downgrade my subscription? A. To upgrade your account, all you have to do is log-in to your account. On your MySpin page, you should see an option to upgrade your account. Currently, there is no way to downgrade your account. Q. How big are your files? A. Our files range in file size from 15KB to 54MB. Q. What size are the images? A. The dimensions are anywhere from 5 to 12 inches on the long side. Q. What resolutions are available? A. Photos and illustrations are available in: 1024x768px, 72ppi, 150ppi, & 300ppi. Audio is available in: 16bit 44.1khz. Video is available in: 320x240@10fps, 320x240@15fps, & 640x480@30fps Q. Do you sell CD's? A. Currently we do not sell CD's. All of our old CD stock has been depleted and we do not plan on pressing anymore CD's. Q. How do I download? A. If you are a subscriber, you must log-in to your account first. You can then click on any thumbnail of any of our files. You will be sent to a page with a large preview of your selection. From there, you should see an area that says "Download". All you have to do is select your desired resolution and click on the "Download" button. If you are purchasing files without an account, once your billing and credit card information has been processed, you will be sent to a page with thumbnails of the files you purchased. You will see a "Download" button below each thumbnail. Q. Where do my files go? A. Your files go wherever you put them. With most browsers, you will be prompted as to where you want your files saved to. In the case that you do not get this prompt, the files are saved to your default download path, set by your browser. Q. How many files can I download? A. In most cases, as many as you want. Unless you see a download limit when you log-in to your MySpin page, you have an unlimited number of downloads. Be careful, this doesn't mean you can go crazy with downloading. We still advise you to download "as-needed". You can review our Terms of Use for a more detailed answer. Q. How to use fonts? A. We recommend that you refer to your Operating System Manual, but in case you can't find it here's some brief instructions.
Windows - unzip the file - copy the .ttf or .otf or .fon file from the zip archive into the C:\Windows\Fonts directory (XP) or right-click on the font file and choose >install from the menu (Vista).
Mac OS X - unzip the file - double click the .ttf or .otf or .fon file from the zip archive and click on the 'Install Font' button
Q. What is a lightbox? A. A lightbox, in the PhotoSpin sense, is a place for you to "save" the files you are interested in. It's almost like a virtual file folder on our website. These files aren't saved anywhere onto your machine when they are added to the lightbox. You can then print or share your lightboxes with other people, even if they aren't PhotoSpin subscribers. Q. Why can't I download all of the files in my lightbox at once? A. The lightboxes aren't designed to be your personal download queue. Since PhotoSpin offers each of our files in many resolutions, it is still ultimately up to you as to which resolution of each file you want to download. Q. How do I share my lightbox? A. If you are a subscriber, you can share your lightbox by clicking on the "eMail/Share" button when you are viewing your lightbox page. Then enter the eMail addresses of the people you want to share your lightbox with. You can enter multiple eMail addresses by seperating each one with a "," [comma]. Just make sure there is no space between the commas and eMail addresses. Q. How long does my lightbox last? A. Your lightbox lasts as long as your account, and beyond! We want to give you the option to renew your account after it expires, without you losing your precious lightboxes. The real answer is "6 months after your subscription expires". This is just to keep our system clean.
